Account and backup

Core protection needs no account; sign-in only adds encrypted backup.

Do I need to sign in to use Lava?
No. Core Lava Security protection is free and needs no account or password, so there is nothing to set up before you are protected. Just open Guard and turn protection on. Signing in is optional and only adds extras like encrypted backup.
What does encrypted backup store?
The app encrypts your protection settings on your iPhone before upload, and the encrypted payload may include enabled blocklist IDs, allowed and blocked domains, resolver settings, local-log preferences, custom blocklist source metadata, and a protection-enabled hint. Lava stores only the ciphertext and non-secret envelope metadata, never your backup password, recovery phrase, plaintext settings, browsing history, or decryption keys. You can set this up in Account.
What is signing in for?
Signing in is optional and exists mainly so you can use encrypted backup to carry your protection settings across, plus keep support history tied to your email. Manage it from Account. Your routine browsing history is never part of this and is not sent to Lava.
How do I delete my account or backup data?
To request deletion of account-related data or support messages associated with your email address, email legal@lavasecurity.app. Local app data stays on your device until you clear it or remove the app, and you can wipe local logs anytime from Clear Local Logs.
